She has also won awards for her ‘visual investigations,’ which use graphics to bring her AI and tech research to life. One of her pieces, ‘Anatomy of an AI System,’ visualizes the real-world consequences of manufacturing the Amazon Echo.

Kate Crawford has won many awards and recognitions, including Time’s' 100 Most Influential People in AI’ 2023 and the Ayrton Prize from the British Society for the History of Science.

I really admire Kate’s commitment to ethical and safe AI policy. Her unique approach of using visualizations to convey her research is a perfect example of why we need more diversity and more women in AI.
