Rumman Chowdhury

Co-founder and CEO of HumaneIntelligence, a tech nonprofit that champions ethical technology.

Dr. Rumman Chowdhury, the United States’ Science Envoy for AI and a member of their AI Safety and Security Board.

She is a Bangladeshi American with an MS in Quantitative Methods from Columbia University and a PhD in Political Science from UC San Diego.

Here are some of her career highlights:
► 2017: Joined Accenture as Managing Director, where she developed the Fairness Tool to tackle bias in AI systems.
► 2020: Founded Parity AI, an algorithmic audit platform focused on enhancing AI transparency and fairness.
► 2021: Became Director of the Machine Learning Ethics, Transparency, and Accountability (META) team at Twitter, spearheading initiatives to combat algorithmic harms.

Chowdhury is now the co-founder and CEO of HumaneIntelligence, a tech nonprofit that champions ethical technology. Her initiative, 'Hack the Future,' saw 8 major tech companies collaborate for the largest Gen AI red-teaming event, engaging 4,000 hackers.

Chowdhury’s work in AI ethics has led her to be recognised in Time’s 100 Most Influential People in AI (2023).

Fun Fact: Chowdhury was inspired to explore sciences by Dana Scully, a character on the show X-Files, who was an FBI special agent, a medical doctor and scientist.
