Vanessa Kingori, OBE, the newly appointed Managing Director of Technology, Media and Telecoms at Google.

She previously served as the Chief Business Officer of Condé Nast UK, overseeing all ten of its businesses, including Vogue, GQ, and Wired. During her tenure, the company experienced a 27% revenue surge in the first half of 2022.

This position was created for her as a result of her leadership success at British Vogue, where the company saw a 95%+ revenue increase in profits in 2019.

Apart from her corporate roles, she serves as a trustee at the Royal Opera House, judged TFL diversity in advertising competition for the Mayor of London’s office, and advised the mayor on Brexit.

Her awards include:

→ Named 9th most powerful black individual in the UK in Powerful Media’s Powerlist 2024
→ Appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2023 for services to the media industry
→ British Vogue’s first female business lead in its 104-year history
→ Conde Nast’s first-ever person of color in the role of Publisher
→ #1 on Campaign’s Top 10 Trailblazers 2020
→ #1 on Campaign’s Top 10 Commercial Chiefs for 2020.

Kingori's achievements highlight her resilience and dedication to diversity and inclusion, making her an inspirational figure. I wish her all the best in her new role and look forward to seeing how she advances Google in this age of AI.

p.s - Kingori co-initiated the Sharethemicuk campaign with Stephanie Phair, where 36 influential black women took over the Instagram accounts of white women to share their stories. As part of the campaign, she took over Kourtney Kardashian's Instagram account, bonding over motherhood and the black beauty industry.
